Steamboat Springs is an amazing place to call our home. We value the natural beauty of the area which provides access to so many outdoor sports and activities. We appreciate that our community supports the passions and goals of our local athletes of all abilities and ages, including over 165 Olympian skiers, snowboarders, swimmers and more. Every one of us at SOSI is proud to contribute to the health and well being of our community so all of us can enjoy life to the fullest.

Situated along the Yampa River, Steamboat Springs was first a gathering place of the Ute people who were attracted to the healing waters of the many hot springs in the area. Later fur traders, homesteaders, ranchers, and miners passed through or stayed and made the valley home. In !963, locals put the first ski lift on Mt. Werner, soon trails were built for hiking and biking, the rivers became known for stellar fly fishing and Steamboat quickly became known as a destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Being over 100 miles off I70 was a good thing, because it meant Steamboat was not a day trip from Denver. Visitors who traveled the distance would stay for several days or longer and most locals appreciated this isolation. But it meant we needed to provide for ourselves. SOSI which includes the Steamboat Orthopaedic & Spine Institute, the Steamboat Surgery Center, a state-of-the-art imaging center, and now Steamboat Spine are the vision of our team of founding physicians who wanted our patients to be able to remain in the valley for the entirety of their orthopeadic care. Their vision is now a reality. We're here to keep you out there - and to keep you home in Steamboat.
